me and my friends had a disscusion and couldn't figure many big bands that have bassists that sing... can you help? we got slayer and primus... who else???
Entwistle isn't the lead singer. try, Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) Geddy Lee (Rush) Paul McCartney (Les Beatles) Sting (The Police) Gene Simmons (KISS) And Jason Newsted in one of his very early bands.
Actually The Ox has done lots of recording and touring with his own bands and yes, he often is the lead singer in those projects. He also sings a few Who songs. I'd add Jack Bruce to the list. Doug Pinnick from King's X kicks butt. Paul McCartney Sting Geddy Lee Gene Simmons JJ Burnel used to sing lead on about 1/5 of the Stranglers' early material. Tina Weymoth (in Tom-Tom Club)
I'll re-mention Thin Lizzy since I love them so much. I'll also mention Steve Harris. Yeah, you don't hear him, but he sings EVERY song while running around on stage.
Oh, is that what you would call a "big band". My school does also have a big band. I think that dude from Biohazard does play bass and sing. Don't forget about Blind Guardian! ...And Victor Wooten, and J.P., and....
As far as I know Hansi Kuersch (BG's singer) will not play the bass on BG's next album because the basslines are too complex for him to play them while singing. I am not sure if he played on Nightfall In ME but he definately played the bass on the oldder albums like Imaginations From The Other Side. P.S.: I see your from Suffolk. I've been to Norfolk a little over a year ago (my first time in the States).
That's Aimee Mann. She plays a bunch of stuff. Also Lenny Kravitz, Oteil Burbridge, Jim Ferguson (an upright jazzer who sings), Jill Cuneiff from Luscious Jackson and Mark King from Level 42. Penn Jilette talks and plays bass. Roscoe Beck sings on occasion. Will Lee sings backup all the time.
Oh ok. I just listed the last 3 BG cds i had in my collection on eBay the other day. I never listened to them. Let me know if you come back this way, dig?
