Basslines ASB: comments?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by basstrader, Mar 15, 2004.

  1. :) Just found what I thought was a stellar deal on a pair of basslines ASB pickups. These are the ones that are soap bars - drop ins for Barts and EMGs. I'm wondering if anyone has tried them and what they think.

I have them in my current bass with an OBP-3 preamp, and I don't like the tone (unless the treble is rolled off all the way). Set flat they sound way too bright and glassy.

It also depends on your rig: I have a Demeter preamp, QSC power amp and Bergantino cabinets, and there's just too much treble overall. However, I played a similar setup through a Walter Woods + Bag End rig (which is considerably darker), and it rocked.

I had the same experience as Aram, way too bright and thin. They are noiseless and high quality but very bright.
