basslines quarter pounders for j bass

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by SomeGuy118, Sep 27, 2002.

  1. I'm thinking of replacing the pickups on my MIM J bass I was looking at the SD bassline quarter ponders, I want a deep punchy tone. I play mostly punk (yes, I know the stereotypic punk tone is a lot of midst but I like a slightly deeper tone). I'm also looking for a bit more clarity. So anyway I was wondering what other people who have these pickups on their bass thought of them, and do you think that they would meet my needs. If not what would you recommend?
  2. QPs are awesome pickups IMO. For punk, I think they will work great. IME, the QPs do have a good amount of midrange, but my only experience with the QPs is on P basses.

They sell for about $65, so they really aren't that expensive. Thats through Musicnas Friend, so you may be able to get them cheaper at a retail store.

For that price, I'd just buy them. If you don't like them they hold their value well, so you could resell them with little to no loss.
