Hi. I have a question about this pickup & 3-band EQ with slap contour. How do people who have installed it feel about it? I have 2 fairly similar Washburns: one is a Korean RB-2000, and the other, an American XB-900. Both have maple necks, 24-fret rosewood boards, and ash bodies. So they should sound pretty similar, right? But surprisingly, the Korean one is super-slappy, with incredible attack, while the American one with the much more expensive Basslines system is far more polite and restrained-sounding, better for a warm fingerstyle tone. I guess it seems strange to me that a replacement system designed for the Stingray, the king of all slap basses, is warm and mellow sounding. . . Your experiences/thoughts? The ads for the Basslines system cite a "more polished tone for your Stingray" or words to that effect, but does that defeat the purpose of a 'Ray?
I have the same XB900 series with the basslines unit. It is a little more "refined" then the other version. I am in a similar situation. I like the XB Basslines unit for things that need "full body". But for raw tone its a little Like you said "Polite". There is a couple of pots on the pre amp board in the 900. The one that is not next to the wire connectors changes the mids. I am still messing around with that control to find the sound I want. In the mean time I am compesating with some low mids boost on my GK amp. If you find something that works share it with the group.
