Well? So many choices, so many choices which to choose which to choose?!
Used G&L L-2500 I got mine for $500 Plays and sounds fantastic and is considered to be one of if not the most versitile basses around.
Best 5 under a grand is the Lakland 55-01, next is the MTD Kingston. Nothing else comes close, other than a used Peavey Cirrus V or used Millennium 5.
Reverend Brad Houser
a used Stingray 5!!
Another vote for Carvin - but either B5, LB75, or XB75. All can be had with case for under a grand, new.
Ask the man who owns two.
If you can find an MTD Grendel, that's the one. Other than that, the Kingston, Reverend 5L, Yamaha RBX-765 are all among the best.
Very happy with my Conklin GT-5
Another vote for the G&L L-2500.
I got mine for $850 with case new. Its rare to find a deal like that, but the still come under $1000 evry now and then.
If you're into traditional passive Fender sounds, you can't do better than a used RB5. It does Jazz growl and Precision thud.
Used MIM Fender Jazz. You can probably get one for like 200-300. That way you have 700-800 left for your rig, a case, a nice setup, accesories, strings, pizza, ect...remember there is a lot of stuff you need BESIDES the bass.
Man if I made a statement like this, it would be the next flam-o-rama.
you can get some bolt-on warwicks used for under a grand, and that's what I'D do...
My Ibanez ATK 305, I got used for way way way under a grand. It has a very large clean sound. Best sounding bass I have ever had. Sweet!
Sting Ray 5 (used)
Lakland Skyline 55-01
MTD Kingston 5
Godin BG-V, if you can find a dealer...
Another vote for Carvin.
A lot of pro's use Yamaha TRB's.........they're great value, fantastic players.........very solid!!
