BBE Sonic Maximizer 882????

    is this a good compressor? my preamp has XLR outputs and this is the only BBE with XLR ports. is this a smart idea to use XLRs rather than 1/4" plugs? aside from that, is this an overall great compressor?

    The BBE Sonic Maximizer is NOT a compressor.
    The BBE Process shifts the phase and amplitude relationship of the harmonic and fundamental frequencies to erase envelope distortion, muddiness, and "smeared" mid's.
    It does this by slightly delaying the higher frequencies so that these reach the ear at the same time a low frequencies. It corrects fundamental and harmonic frequency structures.
    Although not a compressor... I recommend BBE for Bass... I dig mine.

    do you have any recommendations then on anything with a compressor/noise reducer/limiter, and whatever else that is important? not a multi-effects tool, but something rackmount and like the BBE or dbx type?
