BC Rich Pickup Replacement

I just got a 1983 BC Rich Warlock, and I've never liked Warlocks or BC Rich for that matter, however, I wouldn't pass up a bass with a Kahler tremolo for what I paid. Now, I'm looking at slapping in a new P-bass pickup and am looking at the usual candidates...EMG but there's not enough room in the cavity for the electronics, Bartolini but they're a bit expensive, and I've never had any experience with Dimarzio or BassLines pickups. Any recommendations for a sound punchy like a Stingray yet really warm and has a deep sound? I'd prefer to stay passive on this bass.
