** I have used the search and only found classic vibes vs MIM standards.**

I want a '60s style jazz bass, i know i have 3 choices. The cheap, the mid range, and the more expensive model.

    *Squire Classic Vibe jazz
    *MIM Fender Classic '60s Jazz
    *MIA Fender American Vintage '62RI

Obviously the squire will not compare to the AVRI, and it is the one i would pick. The problem is the price. I'm a college student with a small part time job and im in the process of getting a new car. That means that this is more of a classic vibe vs fender classic series. So does the extra money justify for the fender classic or is the squier pretty much close? I play in two bands, cover and original, and really only play bar gigs or a festival every now and then. I really don't care whats on the headstock. I do know i want Olympic White. All three model can come in white, but looking on the internet i can't find the Fender classic in olympic white.

so let me know what you think, how much better is the classic vs classic vibe?:bassist:

the CVJ is hard to beat without considerably raising the ante, if you can stand the glossy neck. buy one on Ebay gently used, and you can sell it a year later for the same or more.
watching prices/trades very carefully, the high end basses can be tricky because we bassists switch our loyalties rapidly based on herd mentality. so you can buy a $2K bass today that is what "everybody must have" and a year from now it will get zero bids.
everybody has heard these stories - mine is true. i have a very good friend who plays in jazz combo and big band - good bassist that reads well, etc. owns an original 60's j bass. he prefers to play his Squier, and not 'cause he's afraid of thieves.

  4. I would take any jazz over a CV Jazz. Worst Jazz bass I've ever played.
