My affection for Jamaican music from the 70's, 80's and 90's knows no bounds.

Incredible amounts of good to great material is accessible now, thanks to the wonder of YouTube.

What has often struck me is how many beautiful bass lines consisted of only a handful of notes. Execution and production are essential components, of course.

Here's some examples for your enjoyment:

Gregory Isaacs - Easy (Hot Milk Riddim)

Carlton Livingston - 100 Weight of Collie Weed (another Hot Milk)

Dennis Brown - Satta Massagana (Satta Riddim)

Black Uhuru - Youth of Eglington (not sure about Riddim, but a real winner)

Massive Attack (w/Horace Andy) - Man Next Door (Man Next Door Riddim)

Desmond Dekker - 007 Shanty Town (Shanty Town Riddim)

Gregory Isaacs - Slave Master (Slave Master Riddim ?)
