Beginner Bass Books?

Discussion in 'General Instruction [BG]' started by BassCactus, Feb 18, 2008.

  1. Hi, I'm new to the forums - and the bass itself, but I'll get down to the question.
As I'm not really in the position to start taking lessons (time, money, etc.), are there any good bass instruction books out there for beginners?
I've heard good things about the Hal Leonard Bass Method Books, as well as Bass Guitar for Dummies, but I'm not sure what to get.
  2. Check out studybass.com

Get the Hal Leonard ones that Ed Friedland wrote. There's a CD that comes with it that will help you play along with the exercises.

Bass Guitar for Dummies is what I used, along with studybass.com and talkbass of course ;)

+1 on BG for D, and on the Friedland books. Excellent starting points, if you're going the book/self-taught route.

    Have fun!
