I bought this one a while back from Pmoran through the TB classifieds. Loved it from the first minute, felt "like home" and sounded awesome. Well pretty darn good on the sound but with a big high output pickup in the neck position and the bridge pup was just plain overpowered. I sent her to Brian at The Low End for an update getting the slim neck pup and Benavente preamp in place of the original Suhr. OH BOY! That was the right thing to do 'cause now it's about as close to perfect as I can imagine. Perfectly balanced from bridge to neck pup, smooth transition with the blend knob, and the ultra clear tone picked up a bit of woodiness with the new preamp. Sorry, I can't produce sound clips, but I do have pics!

very sharp! even though I'm playing my 7 more than anything else... when I do have a need to play either of my Benavente, like you said, they're like home!

Both mine have Suhr pres... I wonder if I should look into Chris's final choice on preamps. The Suhr upgrade was a big step up from the Demeter style that my white one had in the beginning.

Darn close! Switch the bass and treble controls.

I would say certainly check it out if you get the chance. To my ear, the Suhr premap had a touch more bite which I love, but the Benavente preamp seems to have more soul. I really couldn't be happier. I think I'll put the Suhr preamp in a project bass I'm working on ;)

Nice bass-I really like the blue over the quilt.

James- do yourself a favor and check out the Benavente pre-it is the smoothest, most awesome sounding pre out there.

I've bought, played and sold a bunch of boutique basses, absolutely none compare to the tone and playability of this bass - it is the one bass to rule them all!!!

VV5 w/blocks, double wide pups/flat black/pull for single coil and the very cool brushed aluminum control plate.

Elros, I hate when you post pics of yours! It's so beautiful it pains me to see that it's on the other side of the world, and not here keeping my 219 company. And it even has the VBass pickup already installed! AAGH!

 I don't know if I want to put pictures up now! You've got to treat her right... you know, dinner and a movie...

  18. Nice Benevente's guys!! I've never had a thing for "fancy" basses but those are beautiful and I can appreciate what goes into making them. I really love abalone for knives and it looks great as fretboard inlays as well.
