It got here one day early!! Thanks Brian!!!! I am pretty much in awe over this bass, it is a functional piece of art!!! I've been doing a bit of recording with it, just getting an idea of the tonal characteristics of the bass and the eq and pre. I will say this, it is VERSATILE!!! The wide humbuckers are very warm and thick sounding, and I really love the way they sound passive. In active mode, there really is no bad setting, I can dime the mid, bass, and treble and it still sounds great, I love the 18V pre, plenty of headroom!!! Here are some pics and I will soon post some soundclips!!! {} {} {} I am leaving it B-G!!! Here are some soundclips: Latin Groove, chords were done with the bridge pup boosted and the mids boosted and a little chorus and verb. The bassline is the Neck pup with the lows boosted and a little compression. http://members.cox.net/caesarbass/Bene Latin 6-14-07.mp3 Slap thing, both pups on and bass and treble dimmed, and I know there's too many notes, I just wanted to see what she could do... http://members.cox.net/caesarbass/BeneSlap 6-14-07.mp3 Groove, thing, both pups on and completely passive!!! http://members.cox.net/caesarbass/Finger Bene Passive 6-20-07.mp3 I recorded the bass directly into my DAW through an Avalon U5.
No, it's a new one.. Only it's one of the standard models.. 5 string w/ a walnut top.. Getting excited about receiving it!! I try not to think about it but it doesn't work..
I love that top, it came out of my personal woods for personal instruments but brian needed a favor and there it is! Played it at NAMM, Absolutely loved it!!!
NICE!! That is awesome, thanks!!!! It really is a stunning top, i thought it looked nice in pics but in person it is AMAZING!!! By the way, are your basses finished? I think you have an LEJ and a Benavente on order....
i think they'll be in the fall build for the jan NAMM show, more than likely. I have yet to decide what to do with the next oracle. the LEJ is all set I just have to decide which quilt billets(s) Im going to use for the body and no my basses arent finished, between my 2 business and an ongoing lawsuit I have no time whatsoever, its 90+ hours a week for me at work(s)!
