My HT 115 arrived last week from Bass NW. It was a used cab in brand new condition and arrived in the original box. I had a chance to plug in over the weekend using an Eden WT 550 and a Sadowsky UV P Bass with Sadowsky flatwounds.... I checked a few different basses with great results but I love a Single 15" with a P Bass and a good power source...the Sadowsky P Bass is an awesome product and his flats are great... I heard everything I expected to hear..thick and fat with all the clarity...the horn is not harsh or brittle and is adjustable..I left it flat. The upper register notes rang thru very clearly with plenty of top and nice round bottom...the mids where present although slightly scooped and the cab is very responsive to the bass tone adjustments I made. I will test it at a show on Saturday with the same head and a J style bass. I am curious to hear the projection on this cab. For many years I used the Bag End S-15D and S-15XD ... one of the great characteristics of the Bag End cabs is that they project the sound very well... I expect the same from the Berg. The difference in the mids between the Bag Ends and the Berg..IMHO ... I think the Bag Ends have a more pronunced or harder mid range sound where the Berg is slightly scooped which I would attribute to the bigger box. The HT 115 is larger than the Bag End cabs but still easy to move and not too heavy. Handles are placed perfectly. The Berg sits perfectly on top of my Goliath 4 x 10 ( which has wheels) and I will use this combo during the summer months when we do the outdoor shows and I need more sound. Just wanted to share this with you... its a great cabinet and maybe Bergantino will make a new batch for the 15" speaker fans out there...
Yes, Jim Bergantino makes nice things. Dan, we'll have to get together and compare some of the products... I'll bring my HT322, HT112, EX112 cabinets.
Thanks - I've been considering the HT 115, as well - used, of course. Do let us know your thoughts using it live. I've used my wife's Berg 112 at practice and, while I could hear myself, it didn't have any low end whaamp - strange cause at lower volumes solo, the cab sounds almost subish. My amp had to work HARD to push it too - kinda scary. Course I'm sorta used to having 2x410's I'm interested in how this combo works out for you too. My only speaker currently is an old Eden David 410. That'd be nice - though from a production standpoint, I'm not sure he'd stock materials for the deep box just to crank out a few 115's. I've had some luck coming across them used though - my preferred route. Best to ya'........ .
I'm sure you'll find it interesting once you get it on the gig. When I use my HT115 alone, I stand it on its side so the horn is on top. sometimes tilt it back. It fills a room nicely. Hope you like it as much as I do.
Love mine! I use it with either an HT210 or HT310. I often use Jim B's suggestion: putting the HT115 on top of the tens. Goes against standard practice, but sounds great! Seems to tighten up the lows, and the slightly slower attack of the 15 sounds sweet with old skool music like classic rock, blues, country, etc.
I love mine. Best sounding 15 I've ever heard. I have been using it with an Aguilar GS112 and it sounds great, but I'm going to swap that with a Berg 2x10 or 1x12 I think. Bergantino stuff is awesome!
I put my HT115 on top of my HT210 when I play a boomy sounding room, and I agree 100%; it really helps clear up the mud. IMO the HT115 is a great standalone cab. I use mine for rehearsals and smaller rooms. It's a fantastic sounding cab.
