Which looks cooler, the B.C. Rich or Stingray? When I was young, I thought the B.C. Rich was awesome, in my old age, I like the Stingray.

Bernard Edwards looked cool regardless of what he played.
    I love the Rich.
    I love the 'Ray.

Bernard Edwards didn't just look cool. He WAS cool.
  5. The answer is, Whichever one he used on the recordings.
You forgot to include, Fender Precision

It's also been speculated Bernard used a Jazz bass with foam mutes on his early recordings

He used the Precision on the first LP. Don't forget about the L1K!

Did he actually play the BC Rich? I heard it was more of a visual prop.

Edwards used a Sadowsky Jazz on his last studio album, Chicism. It really sounded great too.

I love the Rich as a bass, a lot more than the 'Ray. However, he makes the stingray look good and vice versa.

Edwards is the quintessential Ray player.
Nobody before or since has put their signature on that machine the way he did.
When I think of Chic, I think Stingray.

Great player with his own unique voice. I internalized a line he played in the tune Soup For One that formed a part of my overall style.

Interestingly, I found out in the mid-80's that he bought my Stingray through an intermediary (a music store in Brooklyn) that I sold it to.

The one time I saw a Bernard Edwards in concert with Chic, he had a single pickup B.C. Rich. I actually could have seen Chic twice because they were at Six Flags Over Georgia when I was there, and I heard them playing Dance, Dance, Dance in the background, but I would not go because I thought they were just a one hit female vocal group.

That pic of BE in the suit with the BC Rich is great. It's a meta study in cool and questions some widely accepted beliefs about instruments in genres and what it was like "bitd".
