So what 212s do people recommend? I'm playing rock with a fender jazz through an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II Head (500 watts RMS, 1000 watts Peak, min load 4 ohms).

410s seem a bit too bright and punchy - if most guitar amps have 12 inch speakers, why do most bass amps have smaller speakers?? It seems odd considering the lower frequencies.

I don't mind if there are tweeters or other horns, but I do need 212s.

The Carvin BRX12 has done me right for the last 6 mos. This cab goes down to 30hZ. Bass Player did a review on the BRX & had some very good things to say about it.

There was a thread on this exact topic a few weeks ago. Try searching for it.

Schroeder 1212: light, loud, low and pretty cheap too considering the sound quality.

Original Epifani - speakers in a side by side configuration, not offset from each other.

  6. +1 Had 2 of them for quite some time. Was my favorite Epifani cabinet. :)

  7. What's a 212? None of the other 52 million threads here on them told me anything. :smug:

There are a lot of really good 212's available these days. Your best bet is to determine your price range and than go and try as many cabinets that fit your budget as you can.
