  1. Hey all, what do you feel are the 5 best Power Ballads ever recorded?

    I'd say this:

1)Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin
    2)Dream On by Aerosmith
    3)Nothing Else Matters by Metallica
    4)November Rain by Guns N Roses(even though
i despise the song, and the band)
    5)Don't Stop Believing by Journey

    Tell me what you think!!!

Power that is an interesting category. Seems like Bon Jovi would have to have songs in that category. Gotta think about it, though

    Pearl Jam: Jeremy
    Bon Jovi: I'm A Cowboy
    Alice in Chains: Rooster
    Slaughter: Fly to the Angels
Def Leppard:Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad and also Love Bites
    Guns and Roses: November Rain
    Metallica: Hero of the Day
    Poison: Something to Believe In
    AeroSmith: Dream On

    Cool Topic.

Boplicity!!!! Rooster as a power ballad!!!??? :D ;)

Anyways, I think my top 5, in no particular order, would be

    1. Sometimes She Cries - Warrant
    2. Every Rose Has It's Torn - Poison
    3. Faithfully - Journey
    4. Bed of Roses - Bon Jovi
    5. Lady - Styx

I consider Power Ballads to be associated more with pop metal and AOR, if you want my top 5 metal ballads, I would probaly say

    1. Trail of Tears - Testament
    2. Lotus Eaters - Nevermore
    3. Unforgiven II - Metallica
    4. Down In a Hole - AIC
    5. Shades of Grey - Overkill

  6. "Power" is a subjective thing, so what about:

You're Still a Young Man (live) - Tower of Power

(BTW - are all their ballads Power ones?)

OK, I'm the one who is confused. Isn't the song "Jeremy's Spoken (in class today) a power ballad?
  8. Jeremy is definitely not a ballad...less a power ballad, though it could come close...but then again there are many pearl jam tunes that you could qualify as such...ah, i know what's missing...the all mighty guitar solo, a staple in all power ballads...

1.Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
    2.Paranoid Android - Radiohead
    3.Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
    4.Dream On - Aerosmith
    5.Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  9. cassanova

    In no particular order:

I Remember You - Skid Row

Living In Sin - Bon Jovi

Keep On Loving You - REO Speedwagon

    Hero - Enrique Iglasias

    Faithfully - Journey

I could easily name 10 more to this list that should be there IMO.
