I'm looking at spending £300 (£350 max), or about $500 on a bass.

I want something it suit all styles - although I will not be slapping much.

    Second hand is an option.

Anything suggested? I've been looking at cheaper Fender Jazz's and Tobias Pro-4's.

Used US G&L - they can still be had for $500 if you are patient (at least in the US)

If you like Fender Jazzes you could get a very good MIJ (Fender Japan) one for that sort of money.

You could try going through Ishibashi's webshop. Loads of cool basses not normally available in Europe.

Haven't played the Toby so can't help there I'm afraid. HM customs might prove a headache!

[edit] These guys sell j basses already imported to the UK, their MIJ jazzes start around the £330 mark.

Yes! The Yahmaha BBs, G&L Tributes for sure, but also the Ibanez SR500 or 505, and anything from The Bass Company (TBC).

  16. I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago... i was looking at Fender Jazzes and playing a bunch of other types and ran into the Cort Artisan B4. The Bartolini mk-1 pups are sweet, and the with the onboard low, mid, and high eq settings, you can get a lot of different sounds out of it. Also there is a built in flat eq switch... GC is selling them for around $519. If you get a chance play one... I bought it and love it!:hyper:
