Best Amp to match an Eden 410XLT 4 Ohm Cab?

    Hey Guys,

Currently using a brand new Eden 410XLT 4 Ohm Cabinet with my old GK800RB.

I play a Fender Precision and a Fender Jazz, mainly use the P-Bass though :)

To get the best out of this Cab, would it be best paired with an Eden head such as a WT-550 or.....do you think the 800RB or something lightweight like an Aguilar TH500 would still be ok?

    WT550 is a Perfect match.
If you want something lighter the WTX500 is a great choice.

    +1 WT550

You're looking at a killer rig, by the way.

Yeah, thats a good match. I always prefer more power though. The wt800 is better and I even prefer the genz benz shuttle 9.2 or Shuttlmax 9.2 to the eden. You can never have too much power in reserve.

Maybe you can't have too much power in reserve, but you can put too much power through your speakers and damage them.

IMHO a WT800 is suited for a cab with higher power rating. Maybe two 8-ohm D410XLTs.

To get the most noise in a rig including the 4-ohm D410XLT I would use the WT550 head and add an 8-ohm D210XST for a 2.6 ohm total load that will pull more power from the head and give you more cone to shake house with.
  6. I was in the same situation back in 1998. I had a GK 800RB and just bought a new D410XLT4. I was always pushing the amp too hard and ended up blowing the tweeter the first loud practice I had. After getting it repaired I upgraded the amp to the WT400. I never had another problem since...

I still have the amp and it's been my standard I've held all my other gear to since. I just can't seem to find anything that sounds and feels like it including the WTX500, although I mostly gig the WTX500 now just for size and weight. If weight isn't an issue for you I'd suggest the WT550.

If you think you'd prefer a little dirtier sound, the Aguilar Tonehamer 500 would also be a nice amp to run that cab. I've had luck with a Markbass LMT800 as an alternative to Eden for light weight, clean sound, and high power.

You can't go wrong with the eden heads. I've never liked the eq of the markbass. I've owned and liked the wt800 and some other eden heads. Good stuff. Always prefered the eq on the genz stuff though. Clearer top end and nice HP filter too. The genz and eden are very close though. On the power thing. Alot of guys with 500watt amps sometimes here noises out of their cabs and think that cabs just can't handle the power. This is almost never true. It's usually the sound of the amp running out of juice. I can run my genz into clipping, into a pair of beta 12a woofers. The woofers handle it. Thats alot of watts! Most would not recommend this. Most just don't know. So, you never can have too much power but, you can often not have enough. Be responsible with the volume and bass knobs.
  8. +1 on the wt550 or the wt800, depending on the amount of headroom you want.

Incredible sounding setup; I'd likely still have my Eden stack if I hadn't switched to lighter cabs (those XLTs are heavy!).

Agree. Get a WT-800 and if need to spend a little less get a WT-550.

    They both are great heads.

I'm now debating with myself if i grab an Eden WT550 whether or not i keep either my GK 800RB or my GK MB500 as my back up. One has to go, i don't need 3 Amps :)

GB Streamliner 900 was a good match with the xlt. The mid forward character of the cab and the somewhat mid shy SL worked well.

So do I hang onto the 800RB or little MB500 as a back up? :)

Have you tried the Eden heads yet?
You may find you like the 800rb better.

Jungy you are on the money there my friend. Now that i have tried both, I'm actually going to stick with the 800RB. Don't get me wrong the Eden WT550 sounded great too, but my sound is probably in the GK. The 800RB with a "VT pedal" actually blew me away. Can always get a WT550 down the track one day....who knows :)

Yup! Eden head, that 4x10 is really a nice sounding cab.

So i'm KEEPING my 800RB but....now a guy i know wishes to swap me his 2007 USA built Eden WT-550 for my GKMB500 + $100 cash as he wants something lighter for recording only. He mainly plays guitar now. What do you think, 800RB + the WT-550 (best of both worlds) ?
