  1. I prefer Mesa/Boogie or Eden
  2. That last poll sucked. This one has better choices I believe. Eden and EBS anyone.

I don't think it's fair to say the other poll sucked just because it didn't have your choice.

Well.... not having tried many of the choices... I picked GK as it was the best sounding amp that I have actually owned and played through.

    How about Trace Elliot?

I have a Trace 250SMX and I might never buy another big head - Ive still got to get a GK Microbass combo and probably an SWR preamp for studio work, but I love my Trace!
  7. Trace Elliot is a bit too inflexible.
  8. I don't have a particular affinity for any manufacturer, I judge amps on what they perform like and how reliable thay are on an amp by amp basis. Some of my favs are the Bass 400+, SWR SM 900, Eden WT 800, and the lowly GK 800rb. These all do different things but they all sound great and have proven to be reliable, what more could you want? But of course my all time favourite amp is the Ampeg SVT. The real ones (y'know from the 70s). They sound great, they're incredibly loud and the design is sooo cool. Did you know that if a power tube blows (which would incapacitate any other amp instantly and don't even think about what happens when a power transistor pops!) the SVT will pop a 30 cent resistor and continue working on the remaining tubes as if nothing happened. The volume might drop a bit but that's it. Talk about good engineering! The SVT is pretty much a one trick pony. Although "bassy or more bassy" isn't an accurated description. On the contrary, an SVT with an 810 is punchy, focused and articulate. Great for Rock and Roll!

I agree, where's Trace? It may be inflexible to some, but it's still an industry standard amp (esp here in the UK.

Saying that, where's Warwick as well?
  10. No Ashdown either !

  11. Where's Peavey ?

Of the ones that you listed, Eden and Aguilar. Never been fortunate enough to run across an EBS, though I have heard that they are killer.

I play Eden and love it, but mostly because I can't afford Aguilar.;)

And where is the option for the Matchless Thunderchief? Or Glockenklang?
  17. Hey no poll is perfect. I like Glockenlang but I figured not too many ppl owned them.

That's not true. Everyone is supposed to be issued one with their first bass. You all are going to your proper designated guitar center aren't you?
