Best bass for around 2000$ CAN.

Sorry, im sure this topic has been made quite a few times, but I'm looking for a new bass that will last me for a long time and will be very wonderful.

My budget is probably 2500$ Canadian, give or take a few hundred bucks both ways. I'm looking for a 5 string, I enjoy slap bass so I don't want to go any higher then that.

I think I found a nice used Warwick 5'er at a shop in Edmonton, but by the time I go back down there it might be sold already..

I just want to get a good idea to go into the stores with.

edit: Is 2500 enough for maybe a custom? I'd love to buy one off the internet, but i have a thing about trying it before I buy it, but If you guys beleive in the company that well, i might just buy one off hte net.
