What is the best bass solo ever in rock history? You tell me!
Rancid's Maxwell Murder anyone?
Rancid is deffinitly not the best solo ever, you need to start listening to different music.
Also.... wrong forum.
PS. A topic was done like this already. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118805
Metallica - Pulling Teeth, not the best, but very cool
Metallica - Orion, Interlude playing, I just love it!
Why does it matter? The question is opinion based, a Jaco-head would think Protrait of Tracy, or Donna Lee. A Wooten fan will Classical Thump or something else ridiculously hard.
This goes on forever. There can be no best or Most Difficult... ever.
Not really worth worrying about best if you ask me.
Hopefuly, the next one I play.
It,s apples, and oranges.
Seven Nation Army
walking on the moon?
Its by no means the best, but ive always liked Pictures Of Home - Deep Purple
I think this is in the wrong forum
granted, maxwell murder has a good solo, but there is just so much stuff out there thats even more insane, just be more open minded and listen to a lot more music
WRONG FORUM...but, give a listen to Andrew Weiss in Rollins(End of Silence), on "Obscene", TOTAL insanity throughout...
Best. Bassline. Evar.
please say you are being sarcastic about Seven Nation Army
No sarcasm at all. That bass line is the defining bass line of our day and age.
guess everybody has a right to their opinion...
Maxwell Murders...is amazin...granted there are more technically outstanding bass solo's but for heavens sake its all about the punk energy..and matt freeman has it in bucket loads...!!!!
I know this is chesseeyy
Coffee Shop of one hot mintue has an amazin solo..since it was just done on the spur of the moment..theyt couldnt find a way to finish the song so0o flea went.."i'll do a solo"..lol...
Other fav's includes
Stu Hamm's solo's with satriani
Stu Zender's bass solo's when i saw jamraquoai was amazin...grooo0o0ovin is the only word i can think off to describe it
Adam Nitti...well he's the best chopper of the lot..and (people are gonna hit me for saying this)...unlike wooton and the buddah i don't get board of his stuff..i always find that i find inspiration from adam's stuff where i don't from wooten in term of stuff i can acutally use within my music...
but to be fair..... Portrait of Tracy
One supurb bass "solo"....i guess when jaco plays it live it's classed as a solo..maybeee???.....heheh...
why wouldn't PoT be a bass solo? Very well constructed, and melodic.
Just because it is not played all over the neck at 220 bpm does not make it not a solo.
Hmm, trying to narrow this down is insane... but I'm sure its gotta be something by Les Claypool... I'm thinking Ol' Diamondback Sturgeon... its not one of my fav songs of thiers,, but that bass line is impressive as hell.
