My current set up uses the Morley Steve Vai Little Alligator
volume pedal. It has a linear taper so you can use it in
your loop or in line.I have used it both ways it works great.
It has a min/max setting I just love.I also have used the
Ernie Ball volume pedals and I really liked them cause there
was no Battery or AC adapter involved, but the pots got
scratchy over time and I called the factory to get pricing on getting them replaced and it was almost as much as new pedals.

What is the advantage of linear taper over audio taper?

Linear works better in the effect loop.
