so I read all the threads about the mismatching of cabs (which is what I am doing now).

What would you cab choice be?

I play rock, using mostly a Dingwall, stingray and a P of that matters at all :)

I prefer not to get a 410 due to weigh but...

Let @agedhorse help you out. He helped design these. I think he designed all of them to work together so the mismatch thing doesn't apply here.

That being said, if it were me, I would go for 2 15" cabs. Two 15s is glorious to me. And it would be a great modular rig.

You left the very best option out...

    A pair of Subway 115's.

Added the 115 and 115 option. Won’t this lack some highs though?

Let your personal taste help you decide. All just different flavors, but they were designed to work together (including all the math ;) )

The only problem I have - I can’t test all these combinations... I know it comes down to a matter of personal taste but I guess I am looking for mobility and tonal range/flex (if that makes sense)

Then you will need to rely on the TB community for opinions and impressions. Fortunately there are enough players here with different combinations of cabs to get some good information.

Not at all. The Subway cabs all use the same tweeter.

I’ve got the 112 and 115. Individually they sound great. I typically opt for the 115 when only needing a single cab setup, however last week I used the 112 at church for the first time in almost a year. Kinda forgot how good it sounds especially when you give a bit more bottom end. It can take it surprisingly well within reason and using common sense. And the 115 is well, to be honest, the best 115 cab I’ve ever played through.

Using them together is something you have to experience. It’s an INCREDIBLY powerful setup and simply staggering how much shear volume you can achieve from 2 speakers. Of course, as with everything, take this with a grain or few grains of salt. Everyone has different tone goals and it’s not a setup for everyone, but it’s done a fantastic job for me.

I have prospected on using a Subway 2x15. Looks powerful but easy to handle. Of course I won't know that until I own one. Anyone have this cab that wants to share their experience?

I test drove a SW 2x10/1x15 with a WD and it was wonderful. That's the only 2 cents I can give.......so not enough for me to vote

I voted before reading the OPs preference concerning weight or ease of transport. Since one of my favorite rigs of all time has been a 2 x 15, a Yamaha fitted with a pair of E140s, I chose the closest match. It looks like I'm in with the overwhelming majority.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these WD800s, but I'll likely stay with a pair of 1 x12s or a 2 x12. I really want the chance to run it with my 3 Shuttle 1 x 12s. I think that would be a hoot.

  13. I'd opt for the Subway 215 myself. It's small enough for smally type things and would blow yr Sox off too

I love 212 cabs but would love to try the Mesa 215 with WD-800.

The answer is always a Barefaced 212.

  17. I voted 115 & 210. I can't speak for the WD-800. My amp is a D800+. Curently have the 115 and it sounds awesome by itself or (sometimes) paired with a SVT410HE. A couple weeks ago, I borrowed a friend's 210 ... guess what I am saving up for now? :)

I never tried other cab combos, but I can say the 115 and 210 create most ooooey buttery goodness. Enough to make me put off buying another bass until I get a 210. But that's just me and what I like. Good luck! As far as I am concerned, the you can't go wrong with anything in the Subway line.

I have one of those as well (kinda...I have two Super Compacts). I'll just say...you should reaaaallllyy try a Mesa 2x15. I'll just leave it at that :)

I will say that the BF cabs are lighter and easier to carry/throw in the car to go to practice which is why I keep them.

I am running a WD800 with a HD212 Berg, sounds great! I'm thinking about adding a HD112 to it but haven't found one yet.

I won't knock the quality or tone of other cabs, it is just a matter of checking all the boxes, and getting to hear your actual tone.
The Mesa class D heads are pretty good at giving you the tone of your bass, and then EQ'ing it. There isn't a character to them IMO. If you want a cab that also doesn't color your tone, is loud AF, as great off axis sound, great sensitivity, and is light enough to carry with one hand, you can't beat a Barefaced Super Twin or Big Twin.
    That's just my $0.02.
