Best cab to go with an Aguilar GS 112 ?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by doublestop, Jan 2, 2006.

  1. Last week I bought a GS 112....great cab.

I really loved the GS 212 but it was too big and heavy, so two 112s seemed like a more protable idea. First I have bought one.

But now I think: OK, I can buy a second one, or......I can buy a different cab to complement the GS 112.

    Like...

    a) a different (maybe more punchier) 1x12 ?

    b) a 2x10 cab. However, it should not 'overpower' the 1x12

    c) a 2x8 cab. I really like the idea of having a 1x12 + 2x8 cab. It is different (!) and I think the 8" speakers will give the bite that the 12" lack. However, I have never heard a 2x8 !

Any thoughts, hints , suggestions? I'm open to DIY as well.

    Thanks,

    Peter

I originally used two GS112's powered by my Mesa M-Pulse 600. This was an incredible rig, with amazing low end. However, I found myself wanting a bit more mid-range punch, so I now use a GS112 with a GS210. To my ears, this is an ideal rig-great bottom from the 112 and great punch and midrange definition from the 210. To me, it's the best of both worlds.

Are they both 8 ohm cabs?

The GS210 is available in either 4ohm or 8ohm.
