I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive bass to take on the road with me for long trips. Something that will sound somewhat good and project. I've been looking at Dean and Ibanez, but I'm looking to spend between 200-300 used, and hopefully with a gig bag or case. Any reccomendations?

I dunno, from just playing acoustics, you're probably not going to get a good one unless you cough up some paper. I'd say also check out Takamine, they make some acoustic basses. I think acoustic basses sound too trebly myself, but whatever.

I second the Dean performer. It's a nice acoustic and sounds really nice plugged in. Relatively big body helps it not be silent acoustically.Read this current thread
