I am sure this has been asked before. But I am a long time bass guitarist, looking to dive into upright. Does anyone recommend an inexpensive upright bass? like under 1000 bucks? are any of the cheap ones any good? Thanks.

I have a Cecilio CDB-100 that I love. Had to set the soundpost etc. but the fingerboard needed no work. Put Corelli strings on it, found another bridge for it, and it's great.

Despite your positive experience, these $600 specials are not generally recommended for newbies as explained in the link above.

Drurb, I'm sure it's not normal getting a cheap bass unseen and unplayed, of course I'd reccomend seeing and playing a bass before buying if possible. Glad I chose the one I did.
