Best(comfortable) Strap Ever?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by FungusHumungous, Aug 14, 2003.

  1. This thread is going in Basses because there is no other place to put it.

I'm currently using a cheapo Ernie Ball guitar strap which has a tendency to dig into my shoulder...

Anyone use the best strap ever?- what is it?

I've heard alot about Levy's wide straps for bassguitar and Comfort Strapps as well

I use a nylon Rogue strap with straplocks. I found it kinda ironic that Rogue sucks so horribly but in straps it doesnt matter, ehhe. I am going to buy a nicer strap soon bc i recently started playing standing up more, but it does the job so i might keep it.

You need a wide padded strap.

Comfort Strapp is the best. 3 1/2" wide padded leather straps are pretty nice too.
  6. ...probably belongs in Miscelleanous...

Comfort Strapp, period. Nothing else has even come close yet for me (and we're talking about having played 6+ hr gigs 5 nights a week for a LONG time).

Levy's wide straps (3.5") are great for reducing fatigue. I noticed a big difference going from a generic nylon strap to a wider strap.

Planet Waves....I think, I'll have to go home and check mine. Just a inch/inch and a half nylon strap. But at the shoulder, there's a good 2 1/2 inch pad about a foot long. The nylon strap goes through webbing on the outside of the pad. So the pad always stays on your shoulder as the strap slips through the webbing, without mussing up your shirt!

Yeah, I'm using the wide padded Planet Waves strap too. Really comfortable, but a bit too long for me (I wear my bass high) so I have to squeeze some of the padded section through the buckle to get it short enough. Comfort Strapps come in different lengths, including short, so that might be my next strap.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I always prefered to just grab a normal leather strap. It's kinda like Dana Carvey said, as Garth,,,"After a while, it just becomes part of you!"

Peavey used to make a very very very nice wide, padded, leather strap under their Cirrus line. they do not make them any more. I loved that strap.

That is the most comfortable strap I have owned so far. Next would be a soft 3" wide leather strap.

I don't exactly know what it's called. But it's on http://www.musiciansfriend.com. Anyway, it has this soft padding for your shoulder, and it stretches. I'm serious, it also takes weight off of the bass, or feels like it.

Gard where would I go about getting a Comfort Strapp? and how much did it run you? For I too am using what FungusHumungous is using it's not a big deal, but I've never had a comfy wide strap and I think it will be really nice. (I've been playing for years and I find it funny I've never had anything more then a 1 and a half inch nylon stap) anywho,

Since Ive been working at Guitar Center Ive had trouble stocking those comfort straps.

Because of you guys I keep on recommending them and the customers always seem pretty happy with em.
