    Hi,

Searching for a rackmount compressor / limitor to come with the rig I'm about to purchase (will be either SVT2-Pro or Mesa 400+).

I'd like to know which one is the most powerful...
Supposingly a tube one, but which one ?

    Thanks in advance,

    All the best,

The FMR RNC 1773 (Really Nice Compressor) supposedly competes with similar units costing up to ten times as much.

    It's not rack-ready, though... :(

  3. I'm using an Alesis 3630 in the effects loop of my sans amp RBI, cost $99 at Guitar Center, and use it live only on slap tunes and use it for all studio recording. Clean, quiet, cheap.

    Maybe a Neve Compressor

But you don't need highend compressors.

A reasonably good rackmount compressor is good enough. I even use a cheap Behringer which sounds amazing.

I'm amazed at how cheap used gear can be. I just picked up a Nadly CL5000 for $35, and it's even the new silver model!

  6. Yah...the RNC isn't a rackmount unit...

But you can go to www.funklogic.com and get the RN-Chevy and make the RNC a rackmount unit...and do it in style baby.

  7. I use a Behringer Autocom Pro 1200 with my SVT3 rig.
Its a two channel one, but I only use one side.

  9. I just bought a Behringer Composer Pro (MDX-2200) for 106 including tax. It's sweet....very nice, and very cheap!!

Plus it looks prettty cool, and has a killer led section[IMG]

Are there any good compressors out there that are footswitchable?

EBS has a good footswitch with built-in compressor... ;) the MultiComp. Nothing for tweak-freaks, but it works very well for basses, doesn't cost a fortune and you save one space in your rack. ;)
