I'm 4x10 shopping and I need an 8 ohm cab (so I can add either a 1x15 or 2x12 later) for a Creed/ Pearl Jam type style. I want something with lots of bottom but with definition and something that can get that trebly growl that I hear a lot of hard rock bass players get.

Hm, I know they're awfully expensive in the U.S., but since you asked for the best...

Glockenklang Take Five Neodymium or

Tech Soundsystems ND 410 XT
4. I'd go with a different Ampeg...the SVT 410HLF. It's the best sounding cab I've ever played through.
5. IMHO the :)Eden:) is superior from a range of tone perspective...
but I voted :DSWR:D based upon your playing genre and the relative value (where I shop, 40% cheaper than Eden) .

I voted the Ampeg also but I also think you should try a Hartke 4x10. Make sure it's the XL series and not the TP (transporter) and if you got the dough try the new Hartke Pro Series 4200 4x10, I've heard lots of good things about it.

Epifani's are the BEST. i dunno if i'd ever need a 4x10, but if i did, i'd sell as many organs to supplement the deal. :D

but you should check out Aguilar. sorta a poor man's boutique cab.

but if you're stuck on the list, i'd just stick with the Eden's. high quality cab that's got righteous rock bark.

I would say Eden XLTs (I own 2!)

BUT last week I tried some Epifanis (2x10, 3x10) and I think that I'd have to get ahold of their 4x10 before I can really make that call...those Epifanis blew my socks off!
10. I agree with nomadic herder, go with the svt410hlf.
If you want low end then this is what your searching for!

I think this cab has the best low end of all 4x10's

imo, i think the ampeg pr410hlf has better low end than the svt. but....theyre H-E-A-V-Y, and i dont think that ampeg makes them anymore. i think they sound a bit clearer than the svt cab as well

I would consider Genz Benz. They also fit the description above. Joker, I know that you don't like the color scheme though! :D ;)

Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam) uses SWR cabs with Ampeg heads. http://www.guitargeek.com/layouts/display.php3?id=255

I voted for SWR b/c I like them, and I think they'll come closest to that sound. Just don't turn the tweeter up to high and it would be perfect.

Eden will give you that hard rock barking type sound which isn't really like Pearl Jam, although alot of people like it. Aguilar isn't bad though.

My original (bought new in 1989) Hartke 410XL that I modified by installing the same horn and crossover (same manufacturer) as used be Eden, SWR, etc.,etc. This cab now sounds better than anything I've ever compared it with (The Hartke 4.5 had a little more low end but not nearly the clarity). Many a player has asked "So...uh...you ever think about selling that?":p NOPE! :D

Does the SWR handle 700 watts rms??? Or is it 700 watts program?
