What do you guys recommend in the vein of free VSTs? I've been thinking of trying to write/record my own music, and I want to be able to get the best possible sound. What do you think would be best? I wish I could be open to paid suggestions but I don't have the money currently.

Thanks in advance for any help.

MeldaProduction's free bundle (can be licensed for less than €50; worth it). Went to get the URL and noticed that the bundle license is 50% off (€25).

Tokyo Dawn Labs offers some excellent free versions of their plugins. Kotelnikov, for sure.

I've only suggested plugins that work on both Windows and macOS.

For a DAW, I settled on Studio One. For a less expensive option, there's Reaper. There are a couple of other good, inexpensive choices.

I'm almost definitely going to use Reaper as a DAW.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be sure to look into them.

I often check the great KVRaudio plugin database, which has excellent search filters for whatever type of stuff you might be interested in using : Free instrument, effect and plugin host
