Hey guys, I have always been into the sound of the Sovtek Green Russian from the 90s. I am just wondering now that there are a few more clones on the market, who makes the best one in your opinion? I personally have the EHX reissue, which is amazing imo, but I have not tried any others.
Skreddy Perestroika - hands down my favorite in a small form factor. I have a Super Russian incoming that I'll test against it.
I really love my reissue, but still very curious how others go against it. Interested in knowing the difference with the way huge russian pickle, if anybody has had both.
I liked my EHX GRri but was a little scooped for my liking, I do like my mids. Thinking the Tarkin might be the answer, especially in that form factor.
It is a scooped pedal for sure. I play a p bass and and svt though so the mods are heavy everywhere else in the chain.
I feel the reissued by EHX is the best one I've tried. There are a lot of good ones around but for me, the reissue works best in a band mix. Low end is massive too without getting cloudy or muddy.
This is actually my favorite and the one I use on my pedalboard. Built by my buddy at sonically speaking. It has a low pass filter and a clean blend along with switchable diode options, 2nd stage clipping selector, and tone bypass. It’s a monster. {}
I have 2 Way Huge Russian Pickles, the original and the small. They sound identical and they rule. I used to have an EQD Hoof and it didn't have the nice low end that the pickles have.
