Best hollowbody kind of bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by soulbrother, May 7, 2002.

  1. Hi all,

I have been playing jazzbasses (Fenders, Mike Lull, Lakland Joe Osborn etc) for a while and I am beginning to get bored by that sound! I also play a beginner Maya Beatle bass copy which sounds great. I like that hollowbody sound to make Rocco kind of grooves. What bass in any price range do you suggest as best buy? Epiphone Jack Cassady signature or Hofner bass? Please tell me!

    Thanks, Werner.

If you are into Laklands you should check this out...

...Looks like a SWEET bass, but I have no idea of how it sounds. I think BassPlayer magazine did a review on one a few months back, you could check there for some more info.

Yes that Lakland IS sweet...but also with a pricetag up near $4k!!
The Casady is an excellent bass. Great tone and playability......well above "usual" Epiphone standards.

Then there are the "other" hollow basses well worth checking out:
    Godin A4 and A5
    Azola Nouveau (talk about SWEET!!!)
    Rob Allen
    Rick Turner Renaissance
