Best Live recordings ?

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by Chopper, Dec 23, 2002.

  1. Ok Bass fans list your favorite live recordings be it rock, country, jazz, or other. I'm looking for overall mix, vocals, instrument, and most important bass tone that cuts through the mix. I know it is a matter of opinion, but as to the subject matter I think this will open up people to listen to other types of recordings, and thus expose them to better bass playing!

I will start if off with Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous album. It is a well mixed album with strong bass lines, and vocals. The bass cuts through the mix like a hot knife through butter!

  18. My personal favorite live recording isn't really a live recording.

They're the live tracks on Dub 56 UK edition by The Toasters. Good Good stuff!

The live Chicago album (it's actually 4 albums) is another good one.
  20. Here's a few live albums I've enjoyed over the years:

    Kiss- Alive I
    Iron Maiden- Live After Death
    Genesis- Three Sides Live
    Weather Report- 8:30
    Galactic- We Love 'Em Tonight
    Tower of Power- Soul Vaccination
    Joni Mitchell- Shadows and Light
    Donny Hathaway- Live
Widespread Panic- Live in the Classic City
The Ahlman Brothers- Live at the Fillmore East
Peter Gabriel- Plays Live (although I'm a bit disappointed that they left "On the Air" off of the CD version.)

I know there's more, but that's all I can think of right now.
