im going back to rounds after a long period using flats on my P/J. I used D'Adarrio nickels in the past & know there decent.
That said two strings were recomended to me
    GHS pure nickel
    Dean Markley blue steel/nickel wrap.
Has anyone used either I'd like some input before I lay down $30 for a five string set.

I've tried a lot of nickel roundwound sets including the Dean Markley Blue Steel Nickel and Roundcores, D'Addario XLs and Slowounds, Ken Smith, Peavey Cirrus, Adamas, GHS Boomer Nickel plated steel, Pedulla, Ernie Ball Slinkies and DR Lo-Riders.

My favorites out of all those are D'Addario XLs, Dean Markley Blue Steel/Nickels, and Ernie Balls. Ones I liked least are the Boomers (AFAIC, worst strings I've played in 20 years) and Adamas. I usually get XLs because they're cheap, easily available, and have a mixture of warmth and midrange complexity I haven't found in any other roundwound string.
