Explain if you wish...
Let's see...19 choices (excluding carrots).
I'll go for #20; SCPB (everything else is for people who haven't figured it out yet)
Single J in the bridge position.
yea, single J in the neck would do it for me.
even though I love my J bass with it's singles, I have to say Soapbar + Soapbar
J + J for me.
Wow, ive always wanted to see a general consensus on pup configuration like this
Single MM for me, at the bridge. It gets me everything ive wanted. Growly and mid heavy like a j, thumpy and warm like a p.
I loves me some soapbars. Fat Stacks...mmm...Big Singles...MMMmmm...Dual Coils....mmm, MMM!
Out of the above, I voted P + J. Great variety of tones. But now it's the standard Ric config for me!
J + J BUT with a series/parallel switch so I can get pseudo P bass.
Soapbar + soapbar.
It just works. To hell with tradition!
I voted soapbar + soapbar.
J's are cool, but you can get more variations in a soapbar. And J bridge pickups are a bit too thin on their own IMO.
I couldn't make-up my mind. To me, every combination I've played has sounded great in different circumstances.
(Dual) single coils FTW! (Any shape and size: J, 50's P, Darkstar, Big Singles etc.)
I voted J+J
I'm in a P+J kick at the moment, but I also dig dual soap bars, and J+MM.
P + reverse P
Carrots. I couldn't possibly pick one. I currently have a P/J and dual soapbars, each one does something the other doesn't. Neither is a worthy substitute for dual Js, MM/J or MM/MM. But, with the two that I have I can cover 85-90% of the ground I need.
As usual, there is no "best". It's personal preference, based upon one's preferred musical genre(s), playing style, technique, etc. Silly question...
But my own preference is for dual soapbars, followed by dual Js...
That's why you can read the word "favorite" up there. Isn't it too obvious that this is a personal preference? Do you enjoy redundant people?
