Have just picked up a double bass and really wanting to experiment playing swing and jazz which are completely new genres for me. Was wondering if anybody here in the know would be able to direct me to some good free pieces of sheet music for DB? Thanks fellow bassists!
The Hal Leonard "Real Book" (and Real Book II & III) in bass clef is well worth the $30 or so that it costs, and is the most common jazz fake book(s) out there. If you want to play jazz with other people, it's the best place to start (with sheet music, as opposed to learning by ear). It includes lead melodies and chords.
