Right, so recently I'm into the whole Billy Sheehan bit, you know, Eddie Van Halen except on bass. I find it really cool, and from what I've seen most of the basses that work for that style of playing are decent fingerstyle stuff in their own right. So what's the lowest priced bass that will accomadate that style of play?

  2. You can tap on any bass. it's all on your technique.
But, There's the STu Hamm Urge 2 Bass but thats like 1300

Any bass that can be set up with a nearly flat neck and very low action is a good tapping bass.

I have every bass that I own set up that way, including a $99 SX P copy.

I do a bunch of tapping, and I swear by 34' scale Zon basses, especially the Custom. You can get a used Sonus for pretty cheap, you just have to be patient amd keep searching.

I don't understand all the requests for tapping and slapping basses. Got low action? Great. Got a bridge pickup and low action? Phenomenal. All you need.
