Here's the best setting for you: Plug it in and dial in different tones...when you find the on you like the most, leave it there. Seriously though, there are only 3 knobs and 2 switches.

seriously, you need to just mess with it for a few hours and find a setting you like. Effects, especially distortion boxes, sound different with every instrument, amp, signal chain, room, and playing style. Posting our settings would be pointless.

    no!!!11!!!1 i m not kiding u man!!!111

    Every bass sounds different.
    Every amp sounds different.
Every set of fingers sounds different.
Every set of ears hears differently and has different musical tastes.

As you can see (hopefully ) you'll have to find the best settings for you.

wow u guys are being REALLY helpful.

Ive personally owned the PD7 and I personally feel that the attack knob sounds too unnatual and I always leave it off. I also feel that the pedal shines more in dist mode as opposed to od mode. So basically, attack off, dist mode, adjust drive to your liking for the thick, creamy fuzz-esque sound

That was my first single pedal. I never used the Attack. OD mode, Lo: 1:00, Hi: 12:00, Drive: 2:30, Level to taste.

I once had an ibanez pd-7. this was my setting when I had it.

    Drive: 3:00
    Lows: 1:00
    Highs: 11:00
    Level: 11:00

    Mode: dis
    Attack: off

This setting is pretty suitable for hard rock and heavy metal.
