I recently picked up a great Avatar 4x12 guitar cab on clearance (some cosmetic damage, tweed front), for my little brother. I want to fix it up a little before his birthday with some better looking type of grill. Anyone know good sources to find grill material? I know Home Depot type places carry grill materials, but those seem to be geared more towards fixing your screen door. Any suggestions or online vendors?

I got some expanded metal at home depot in their metals rack. I think it was geared for like a BBQ or something. but it was 24x24" and a pretty heavy gauge. i used it for a 1x15" cab I made...it gives it a "tough" look. There's also companies online that sell that stuff...but you may have to buy a large sheet (4'x8') and shear it down. Try Ebay...search "Expanded Metal"

In the section of speker grills and clamps, they offer
custom made grills. About 2/3rds of the way down the list,
priced by the square inch. I have purchased one before and it
    was very nice quality.

You can have it made with the edges folded at 90 degrees,
with a manximum edge of 3/4".

They will only fabricate it from a drawing you make and
fax to them, so measure carefully and get it right.

They do have a minimum to order, I usually pickup odds and
    ends for the workbench.

Thanks for the direction. Looks like I might be able to give my brother a cool looking cab after all.
