    Hi guys,

After years of playing anything I could get my hands on, I'm back to playing rock/metal!!!

I'm set on building myself some speaker cabinets to run my Ashdown combo (soon to be head!) into...
At present I'm running my ashdown 1x10" combo as a monitor for our drummer with a line out to a 500watt power amp into an ancient 2x15 cab that I have on loan

But I'm unsure of what the best size speakers are to use to help me cut through 2 heavily distorted Marshall stacks and a very heavy handed drummer.

I was thinking of either 2x12 or 6x10, or a combination of 2x10 and 1x15. I'd even consider 8x8! I won't go as big as 2x15 or 8x10 - been down both those roads before and, although they sound incredible in their own way, they are just too hard to transport!

We tune down to D, with occasional 5 string work too...

Anybody got experiences as to what the best size of speaker is for this sort of situation?

He's probably playin' country or in a church band by now LOL .

  7. In that case I’d checkout a high power amp - like maybe a GK MB800 with two good 8 ohm 410 cabinets.
