Sorry to post a new thread but my specific query isn't covered in any of the previous posts ...

My Ric 4003 (purchased new in October 2003) came with the Ric 45-55-75-105 gauge strings which are "mission impossible" to get hold of in the UK.
I put the Ric in for a set-up & it came back minus the fret-buzz which had developed, but with a set of Ernie Balls (gauge 50-70-85-105) fitted. I'm less than impressed with the Ernie Balls & wondered what a better option would be (gauge being important here as I do NOT want to put it in for another set-up !!)

Ideal sound would be Geddy Lee (but that I could play that well !!) :bassist:

Thanks for the reply, but (sorry to be a pain!) - what about the gauge ?
LDs (45-65-80-105) or LEs (50-70-85-105) ? I guess LDs which are closer to the original strings, but will I have to go near the damned truss rods again ?

    Cheers

    >>> Try the SM66 set. 40,60,80,100. Purrrfect on a Ric...
You can even go lighter; maybe try the LC set 40-95
