I have the TI Jazz Flats on both my medium-scale Warmoth builds. Love the feel, love the low tension, love the sound, love the fact I've never had to change them (thankfully, at $85 a pop). BUT they don't make them for true 30" short scale. Their shortest set are a bit overwrapped on the pegs for my liking on my 32" basses, so I'm not going to mess with them on a 30". I plan to pick up a G&L Tribute Fallout bass, because at $600 how can everyone not own one of those SEXY beauties? It's pretty much something I've always been hoping to see on the market (I love the look of the Fallout guitar and thought it would be a perfect bass shape), so kudos to G&L for finally stepping into the non-long-scale pool. I'm hoping to eventually see the Fallout bass on G&L's custom-buildable list. Fallout bass in Margarita Frost with an ebony fretboard? YES PLEASE!!!
I hate roundwounds and plan to replace the stock strings immediately. In fact, I'll probably have the shop set it up with new strings before I even walk out the door. What would be the best TI Jazz Flat alternative for short scale? La Bella Flexible Flats?
(Perhaps with the recent resurgence of short scale basses, TI might consider offering a true 30" set, but until then...)
