I'm in the market for a reasonably priced tone pedal. Not too familiar with any, but looking to spend around $200 for one. I got an MB mini boost thinking the VPF filter would help but it isn't doing much more than giving me a lot of feedback. Playing a Schecter 5-string through a Behringer head and Hartke 4x10.

    Thanks guys!

Best tone pedal? A tuner. Or a good chord.

Effects pedals are effects. Tone is tone.

You're better off with your fingers

Thanks for posting the Effects Forum!

Tone is not all in the fingers. It's simply not true. Tone from your "fingers" is well behind the bass, amp, and effects.

One would think a Behringer would have great tone. ;)

What kind of tone? There are millions of different tones and types of tones. What do you want to hear?
Help with what? What did you think the VPF would do?

As far as feedback goes, that comes from boosting the wrong frequencies in a given room. The solution is simple: quit boosting those frequencies.

The 2 most prevalent things on TB have appeared already! "Tone from my fingers" and gear bashing. Where are the carrots? Oy Vei.

On topic, It sounds like you are looking for a preamp. Though pricey, I am really digging my B7K. Lots of people like the VT bass or Tone Hammer for a lot less money.

I play it all. Whatever works for the gig
What comes to mind is the Tech21 VT bass or the MXR 80+

    For $200:

Sansamp VT bass. They just released a VT bass DI that's suppose to be really sweet.

    Sansamp bass driver DI (BDDI).

    Aguilar tone hammer DI.

    Much more expensive- darkglass B7K.

Much most inexpensive- behringer V-tone bass preamp. I've heard it's a decent substitute if you ain't got the scratch at the time of purchasing one.

There are many many more but these are some off the top of my mind.
