And no, I'm not talking about the best vibraslap sound on a recording. I'm talking about which one out there has the best sound and longest sustain. The ones they sell at Guitar Center sound like a cheap-ass kids toy- thin, metallic, and almost no sustain. Thanks!

Depends, are you looking for the best vibraslap for metal?

Seriously though, every time I've seen on being used, its been one of the LP vibraslaps. They seem pretty indestructible, as they're commonly mounted on drum kits and bashed with sticks.

I think I may have just answered my own question. I finally found two videos online demonstrating the LP Vibraslap Standard and Deluxe models. The deluxe has a lower pitch and longer sustain.
  4. Hi.

I'm no percussionist by any stretch of imagination, but I do second LP.

I don't think I've seen many -if any- other makes used as much.
But then again, at least over here LP seems to be the Shure of percussion instruments.

GC sells LP Vibraslaps. The sustain is primarily a function of playing technique.

  7. Most people play them wrong,,yes even on YouTube!

I studied percussion in college, so I must be right!

I got my LP vibraslap at Guitar Center. It sounds pretty awesome.... very much like the vibraslap you'd hear on many a Cake record.
