Hey, I am looking into a 4 string fretless and I have the chance to buy a used Legacy Elite with Barts and Flame Koa top, or I could order a Sonus Custom 4. I always hear about the Sonus Custom and Special for the best fretless playing, but the Legacy Elite almost sounds like a better bass. What's the real difference? Which one would give me more versatility? It seems like they should be the same. Anyways, Thanks and Later, Ryan

Chicago, IL's what I've gathered for myelf so far...You're right Cruise4, the bass is set neck, ZP-2 electronics instead of ZP-2D on the Sonus, and they list for about 1,000 more. I might have to give them a call though.

Ryan, it's all going to boil down to what sound you want. The Sonus Custom is probably the closest thing in Joe's current lineup to my Legacy Standard fretless 5. Mine has a two piece Maple body. The legacy Elite with the set neck IMO has more of a neck through kind of sound... less punch, less lively, still very nice.

My Legacy Standard 5 is still my favorite Zon so far;)
