... which do you prefer ? Especially for low to mid gain, Motown to late 60s/early 70s rock tones .... Way Huge Pork Loin Pigtronix Bass Fat Drive I’ll be able to answer for myself tomorrow ... I have a Pork Loin, and the Pigtronix should be here tomorrow. I’m just curious to hear your thoughts on these two ... Either way my pedalboard us gonna get a slab of bacon !!! {} {}
I am a big fan of the pork loin, never played with the fat drive but the pork loin is an always on great option
Try running the Pork Loin at 18v... i bet you'll like it even more if you're going for a light creamy overdriven tone. I have no experience with the PTfd
I dig the Pork Loin. As I've heard here and there, the PL preamp portion is somewhat based on a Neve structure. I don't have any technical details supporting that and I have not compared both pedals side by side. As I understand, the pigtronix revolves around a variable CMOS clipping stage, but for light overdrive it didn't caught my ear as much as the Pork Loin.
Just fired up the board with both of these. Played around a bit ... with my 63 Jazz through LM3 head /112 cab, the Pork Loin sounds great for a light drive, just a touch of hair. I expected that. What I didn’t expect was that the Pigtronix sounded absolutely FANTASTIC with the gain all the way rolled back, volume at 12-1 o’clock, and tone at 12 o’clock ..... just a beautiful FAT tone that had the very slightest amount of edge. Still clean, but just fat and warm. I guess I’ll be keeping it for now
I have seen so many positives on both Drives but the pork lion just seems to be so popular here. Just ordered the Pork and Pickle. Hard to believe that both are in the same pedal but I am looking forward to it.
Fat Drive works well for me. I do a lot of 70s - 90s hard rock. {} Do the FD & Pork Loin play well together?
I’ve only tested it a little bit, and I think I would want to reverse the order. I’m using the fat drive almost like a always on boost, so I think it would be better in front of the pork loin.
