Big bass sound, but doesn't necessarily have to be loud ?

Some recordings have a sound where the bass sounds really big, not boomy
or indeed overly loud. Kinda difficult to describe what I mean.
Maybe sort of Phil Spector'ish ?
I know it is achieved in the recording process but is it possible that a pedal exists
that could be used for live gigs to create that sort of sound?

I think my Mesa Titan sounds huge. This amp is a real wrecking ball that creates sympathetic vibrations in surrounding structures even at low volume. It also plays very loud. I think a big part of the effect is strong, well damped low mids.

I have mine set for a big round woofy thump, but it retains excellent note definition.
