Big Muff/Wah question ( for Metallica fans)

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by creeping_deth, Sep 28, 2002.

  1. Hey y'all, I was wondering if anyone else here owns a Big Muff and is tryin' to get that Cliff Burton tone. I got a tone I like but I was wondering if anyone else has the Big Muff and has a cool setting for say...the intro to "Bells" ...and, I was wondering what wah pedals you bassists use!? I use my guitarists when he's not looking he he:D
  2. Hehhe

My brother actually has a Big Muff and a Morley Wah (Steve Vai model rather than Power Wah, but it sounds similar). I like to steal them and pretend to be Cliff!

I would guess Cliff's amp rig, bass and technique would help you to get closer to the noises on the record, but as for the Big Muff, I'm pretty sure Cliff would have experimented with various settings in each song, so doing the same would seem a good plan.

Incidentally, I usually have tone up to about the 2 O'clock position and Sustain about 12 O'clock. Then I fiddle with my amp to stop me sounding like a g**tar!
