Let me apologize up front for the terrible photography... I can barely play bass... I certainly can't take photo's! So... after swearing off everything except 35" scale basses... and being more than satisfied with my competely hand built Skjold's. I did the unthinkable... I bought a jazz knockoff... parts bass.. albeit a VERY nice parts bass jazz knokcoff... and one that I have been coveting for a long time... 59' burst... maple board... VTC... all the works. I think it fits in the family photo pretty well....
The top on that fretless is silly!!! What a beautiful family you have there. Can I come over for dinner?
Yeah... it's silly... who would want a bass made with that goofy redwood... {} Oh.. any you're welcome to come over for dinner anytime!!!! give me 24 hours notice... and I'll smoke ya some of the best porkribs, bricket, and brat's you've ever tasted!!!
Bill: I'm Bill S. Preston, Esquire. Ted: And I'm Ted "Theodore" Logan. Bill, Ted: And together, we're WYLD STALLYNS. Evil Duke: Put them in the iron maiden. Ted: Iron Maiden? Bill, Ted: Excellent! [air guitar] Evil Duke: Execute them. Bill, Ted: Bogus! and my favorite quote of all... Missy: Hi, Bill. Want a ride? Bill: Sure, Missy. [She draws a blank stare at Bill] Bill: I mean, mom. [She smiles and puts on her Ray-Bans] Ted: [Whispering to Bill] Your stepmom is cute. Bill: Shut up, Ted. Ted: Remember when she was a senior and we were freshmen? Bill: Shut up, Ted!
it's all good... after all it's a classic... like "Spinal Tap"... much more important than pic's of a couple of Skjolds (that everybody has seen a million times anyway) or a 59' burst Sadowsky...
I know what you mean, it's crazy how someone would want THAT kind of top. I'm hopping on a greyhound now, I should be there in a few days. I'll bring my bib.
Nice basses, B4Him! I hadn't seen your two Skjolds together before, and the tone of each topwood is quite similar, yet they take different contrasting approaches. Very nice. And of course, you can never go wrong adding a Sadowsky to the mix! So, how many of us own both Sadowsky's and Skjolds, then? I count two. Later, Tom.
thanks Tom.. in person they are not quite as similar...but still are. The Redwood is more (red).. the mahogany is very brown. Yet side beside they look like they belong together... The Sadowsky... it sticks out like a sore thumb... but in a good way. O.K... here's an updated pic as of today.. with a new toy that jsut arrived. (this probably belongs in amps now... but still there's a pic of two basses). EXCELLENT!!!!
