i want people to share there stories about billy or just share your thoughts about his playing
Dude's cool, but kind of spacy. My impression of him was confirmed on that E! special about Savannah; either Billy's pulling everyone's leg or he was to stupid to realize that his girlfriend was a porn star.
He's my hero!!!! I play the Attitude basses and they are awesome for me! Love his tone, grooves, songwriting, and the work he's done for the bass guitar.
Been following his work since picking up the bass in '84....
Billy is cool! I'm really diggin' his newest, Compression!
I remember when he did the Yamaha advertisements on MTV during the Headbanger's Ball thing they had. Whew! I used to watch it just so I could hear him do that! He blew me away then and he continues to with Niacin. He is, IMO one of the great bassists of our time.
I had a quite lengthy email correspondence about his $cientology membership with him.
I was really surprised that he answered personally and at great length.
Our opinions differed completely, but we (I) stopped it before it went too far.
Billy is a great guy, but it's a shame that he's associated with that bunch of criminals.
I also met him at a clinic, around 1990.
Remember kids... this is just MY opinion..
I respect his ability to play 19,000,000 notes a second, all two-hand tapping. He's got some mad chops.
However, I can't stand him. His playing is so the exact opposite of interesting to me it's ridiculous. I really don't like his tone... especially on the David Lee Roth stuff... ugh, good god.
That poor bastard. Maybe he hangs out with John Travolta on the weekends and talks with him about how great "Battlefield Earth" was.
I met him at Thoroughbred Music, and he was a self centerd, smug, couldnt be bothered with ya jerk.
Great bassist though
Billy Sheehan was the reason I started to play bass, but he isn't the reason I continued. The more I learned about other bass players, the more I began to have regard for others. Still I owe Bill Sheehan a debt for inspiring me to get started.
Billy Sheehan is a BASS player, not a guy who plays bass. He doesn his job, and does it well. not TO flashy, (When he's doing a band setting) and just a great allround bassplayer.
I like his Niacin stuff the best! Billy is a real gymnast too......I saw a video of the G3 tour with Steve Vai......and they where doing some pretty cool manuvers........not my style, but I appreciate it anyway
Let's not go bashing religious beliefs please.
Billy Sheehan is definately one of the reasons I play bass. I have never met the man, but heard lots of people say he's cool and down to Earth.
I've liked all of his tunes that I have heard so far.
thanks for handling that Gabu, much appriciated
I'm actually, a realativly new Billy Sheehan fan. I don't really know what took me about 2 years to actually get around to sitting down and *listening* to his playing.
I list him as one of my top three favorite bass players, along with John Myung, and Victor Wooten.
I love his tone....
Dude is f**king nuts! Anyone who can keep up with Steve Vai, has got to have *something* going for him!
.....Though, it's almost depressing to think about how much farther I still have to go...
**Me is off to practice.......................a lot!**
This is kind of my take on him too (except I do like his tone for certain things). Great chops, but I've heard just about everything he's done over the years (except Niacin) and I've never heard anything from him that made me say "Great bass line!" However I do think, as far as support, the man is a Rock.
Scientology is not a religious belief it's just a corporation whose work is to steal the much money they can.....they want you to believe oit's a religion
That's why i'll never buy anything from this miserable guy
Co$ is not recognized as a church in Germany. And they are/were involved in criminal activities...
That said, he was really nice and down to earth when I met him at a clinic in 1990, and later in his emails. He still is, judging from his cool Bass Day video.
SCIENTOLOGY is not a religion. Its a cult for weak people to give them the illusion that they actually have contol over their own destinies.
GO WITHIN THATS WHERE THE ANSWERS ARE.
